What to Expect at Your studio maternity Session
Celebrate the beauty of motherhood with a meticulously designed maternity session inside my 2,200 square foot professional maternity studio in Mesa, Arizona. As an Arizona maternity photographer specializing in studio maternity portraits, I create timeless, refined images that highlight your strength, grace, and connection through intentional lighting and elevated artistic direction.
Your experience begins with a personal consultation, where we’ll discuss your vision, styling preferences, and overall aesthetic to ensure your session feels effortless and unique to you. Studio maternity sessions are best scheduled between 27 and 33 weeks, when you’re most comfortable and your baby bump is beautifully defined.
On the day of your session, you’ll enjoy a fully guided photoshoot in a private, thoughtful studio environment designed for comfort and calm. With expert posing guidance and precisely controlled lighting, each image is carefully composed to flatter your form and create polished, high-end maternity portraits.
Following your session, you’ll be able to view your maternity portraits in an online gallery in the comfort of your own home. You'll get to choose the images included in your package. Additional digital images, prints, and printed products are available to beautifully preserve your images. Every photograph is professionally retouched with care, ensuring a cohesive, timeless final gallery.

When you're ready to get the process started for your maternity session, the first step is to send an email. You can reach out via our contact form, sending an email to booking@shanynnicolestudios.com, or giving us a call (or text for those who don't love chatting!) at (480) 231-9880. This is when we will make sure we are available and the best fit for each other!
Most expectant mothers schedule their maternity session early in their 2nd trimester. If you're having 1 baby, I recommend scheduling when you're 28-33 weeks along. If you're having multiples, I recommend scheduling your session sooner. While we typically book up 2-4 months in advance, we sometimes have last minute openings. Never hesitate to reach out and ask!
2. Schedule it
After we schedule your session we will start planning your dream maternity session. We will go over outfits, locations if you're shooting outside, backdrops for in studio, and your vision. If you're shooting in studio we will go over optional add ons, such as hair & makeup as well as fantasy sets. Before your session you'll be sent guides to go over how to prepare best, including what to bring (and what not to bring).
3. Planning it
The day of your session has finally arrived, and it’s time to celebrate this special season. When you arrive at the studio, we’ll review your outfits one last time, make sure everything fits perfectly, and I’ll guide you through each pose so you feel comfortable and confident.
After your session, you’ll have the choice to view your images right away in the studio, or from the comfort of your home with an online viewing—whichever feels best for you.
4. Your Session
3 weeks after you select your images it's time to enjoy them! All digital images are sent via digital download. Prints and products can be picked up at the studio or hand delivered. For those who are having their maternity photos taken on their baby moon, their products will be mailed to them directly.

Shanyn was absolutely amazing from the moment I inquired about her services to booking my maternity and newborn shoot with her. I cannot recommend Shanyn enough! Need a feel good shoot? Boudoir? Family? Maternity? Cake smash? She’s done it all for my family and every time I come out shocked at the result. Our last family session was about 20 minutes because my kids wouldn’t stop crying, it was chaos, no one was participating and I even cried because I was so frustrated. But then Shanyn delivered a full album of photos that I couldn’t even believe how she was able to make us look that put together. She is our forever photographer!

Amazing experience with Shanyn! This was our 3rd photoshoot with her! Breastfeeding milestone, 1st birthday cake smash & today personality portraits! She was patient with our wild 3 year old. Photos turned out amazing and a VERY quick turn around. We already got our final photos! Look forward to using her for other photos in the future!
