What to expect at your studio maternity session
Pregnancy is one of the most incredible seasons of your life, and your maternity session should feel just as meaningful as the photographs you'll take home.
Inside my 2,200 square foot Mesa photography studio, I've created a space where you can relax, feel confident, and enjoy celebrating this chapter of your story. From personalized styling and access to my client wardrobe to gentle posing guidance throughout your session, every detail is thoughtfully planned so you never have to wonder what comes next.
Before your session, we'll talk through your vision, favorite styles, and the overall look you love so your portraits feel personal and true to you. Maternity sessions are typically scheduled between 27 and 33 weeks, when your baby bump is beautifully defined and you're still comfortable enough to move through a variety of poses.
When you arrive, everything is ready for you. I'll guide you through each pose, help you feel confident in front of the camera, and create beautiful, natural portraits that celebrate your strength, your growing family, and this once in a lifetime season of motherhood.
After your session, I'll carefully hand edit your images before sending you a private online gallery where you can view them from the comfort of your home. Take your time choosing your favorite portraits, with the option to purchase additional digital images, heirloom albums, wall art, and printed keepsakes if you'd like to preserve even more of this special season.
Every image is thoughtfully retouched while preserving the natural beauty of this moment, creating a gallery that feels timeless, cohesive, and true to you.

When you're ready to get the process started for your maternity session, the first step is to send an email. You can reach out via our contact form or giving us a call (or text for those who don't love chatting!) at (480) 231-9880. This is when we will make sure we are available and the best fit for each other!
Most expectant mothers schedule their maternity session early in their 2nd trimester. If you're having 1 baby, I recommend scheduling when you're 28-33 weeks along. If you're having multiples, I recommend scheduling your session sooner. While we typically book up 2-4 months in advance, we sometimes have last minute openings. Never hesitate to reach out and ask!
2. Schedule it
After we schedule your session we will start planning your dream maternity session. We will go over outfits, locations if you're shooting outside, backdrops for in studio, and your vision. If you're shooting in studio we will go over optional add ons, such as hair & makeup as well as fantasy sets. Before your session you'll be sent guides to go over how to prepare best, including what to bring (and what not to bring).
3. Planning it
The day of your session has finally arrived, and it’s time to celebrate this special season. When you arrive at the studio, we’ll review your outfits one last time, make sure everything fits perfectly, and I’ll guide you through each pose so you feel comfortable and confident.
After your session, you’ll have the choice to view your images right away in the studio, or from the comfort of your home with an online viewing—whichever feels best for you.
4. Your Session
3 weeks after you select your images it's time to enjoy them! All digital images are sent via digital download. Prints and products can be picked up at the studio or hand delivered. For those who are having their maternity photos taken on their baby moon, their products will be mailed to them directly.
5. Your Photographs
Shanyn was absolutely amazing from the moment I inquired about her services to booking my maternity and newborn shoot with her. What I loved was she paid extra close attention to small details to ensure the photos were just right. She was fabulous with my newborn daughter and trusted her to take full control of the shoot. All of my photos came out beautiful!!! I highly recommend her services and her prices are very reasonable. As long as we live in Arizona we will be using her services for any and all future photos! I cannot recommend Shanyn enough! Need a feel good shoot? Boudoir? Family? Maternity? Cake smash? She’s done it all for my family and every time I come out shocked at the result. Our last family session was about 20 minutes because my kids wouldn’t stop crying, it was chaos, no one was participating and I even cried because I was so frustrated. But then Shanyn delivered a full album of photos that I couldn’t even believe how she was able to make us look that put together. She is our forever photographer!

Amazing experience with Shanyn! This was our 3rd photoshoot with her! Breastfeeding milestone, 1st birthday cake smash & today personality portraits! She was patient with our wild 3 year old. Photos turned out amazing and a VERY quick turn around. We already got our final photos! Look forward to using her for other photos in the future!
