While some maternity trends tend to change like the wind, Georgia chose beautiful outfits and backdrops for her maternity pictures. And as her maternity photographer, I was STOKED to bring this to life. It’s not uncommon for moms to come in and want to go completely off track from what they usually wear. Not Georgia. She wanted to stay true to her non-pregnancy style. Which I absolutely loved for her!
How to choose the best maternity photographer
Choosing the right maternity photographer is so important. Truthfully no two photographers are exactly alike. Styles can vary. What they include will differ. Even their personalities are all different. You want to make sure you align with your maternity photographer on as much fronts as you can. My number on tip on selecting a maternity photographer is to make sure their website and portfolio look how you want YOUR pictures to look. Do not ask or expect them to change their style for your session.
Developing a style as a maternity photographer takes time. It takes a lot of practice. And all of the best photographers have perfected their style over the years. It’s simply not as easy as just changing a “filter”. You have to shoot the picture itself a specific way for it to look moody – and a specific way for it to look airy.
Take these two maternity pictures for example. I used a total of 4 different lights + 2 different modifiers to create this look. If you want this look – but choose a maternity photographer who only uses natural light. You won’t get the results you’re hoping for.
