Not often do I get to do a sunset newborn session in Phoenix at the salt river. In fact, this is the first time (and hopefully not the last!) I’ve gotten to bring a family out here for their newborn and family session. Let me tell you, this was beyond dreamy and frankly I wish I’d gotten to do it with my own newborn. Nevertheless, now we know and booking is open to take all of your newborn sessions at the river. Let’s take a peek at some of my favorite images from this newborn session at the Salt river.

Newborn sessions at the river are a little different. While I do still bring props and swaddle baby, it is more focused around the family session than the newborn session. We will keep your session neutral and earthy toned. This ensures that you look like you belong rather than stand out in the environment. I want to create a setting for your newborn session that is beautiful, serene, and joyful.

Sweet Beginnings: Scottsdale’s Newborn Photography Experience

I’ve had a lot of moms reach out after baby has already been born lately. A lot of first time moms seem to be on the fence about a newborn session. However, if you’re even kind of on the fence about newborn photography in Scottsdale; here is your sign to book your session! Because of this it’s always recommended to pre-book your newborn session in your second trimester.

Thankfully I was able to get this baby boy in the very next day. There are some challenges when it comes to a last minute newborn booking. However this little boy came ready to rock and roll.

Often when mothers book their babies first portraits, we have months to plan. This time we had less than 24 hours. Nevertheless this session went off without a hitch. If you’re looking for savings on newborn & maternity photography, I offer 2 bundle packages. Two petite sessions and two premier sessions. There is a bigger savings on the two bigger packages bundled. Let’s break it down.

The petite bundle is $950.00 plus tax. Saving you $50.00 on your sessions!

Our petite studio maternity session is 45 minutes, includes 2 outfits, and 1 backdrop. This package includes 10 images. This is for mom and one partner only. That can be the other parent or one kiddo. This is $500.00 plus tax.

Our petite newborn session is about an hour, includes 2-4 set ups with baby only. These can be wrapped or unwrapped. This includes 10 images. This is $500.00 plus tax.

If you’re looking for a bigger session that includes family – the Premier bundle is for you. The premier offers a $100 savings on newborn and maternity photography at only $1,500.00 plus tax for these two packages.

Our premier studio maternity is a 1.5 hour session, includes 3 backdrops, 4 dresses, and can be with Mom, partner, and kids. This includes 20 images and is $700.00 plus tax.

Our premier newborn session is 4-6 baby poses and includes family. This session tends to take 2-3 hours. Included is 20 digital images and is $900.00 plus tax.

Last but not least, this is such a common question and I am excited to talk about it. When you come to my Phoenix photography studio for your newborn session you do not have to bring anything. Everything is provided. From hats, headbands, wraps, outfits, beds, buckets, everything that is needed; we have. That keeps money in your pocket by not having to spend 100’s of dollars on things you will likely never need again.

This does not mean you cannot bring items to your newborn session. It just means you don’t have to. If you’re looking for some super cute outfits, I love forever French boutique in downtown Gilbert. Newborn photography ideas can be hard to come by if you are a mom who loves colorful, bright newborn sessions. I love a good neutral newborn session just as much as the next mama. However, color is my love language. If you ever came to my house you’d see pink curtains, a gold velvet couch, and a rug filled with jungle birds. So it is no surprise that I love associating those colors in my Phoenix newborn studio.

Finding the best colors for your newborn session

No, not every baby can be wrapped in every color. You want to ensure that your baby is wrapped and dressed in colors that complement their skin tone. Yellow was a color I really had wanted for my own baby, Story, however she had jaundice (and is a ginger!) so yellow was NOT her color. Sweet Amaya had the most perfect newborn skin tone ever and truly could’ve rocked anything.

Sometimes I have a parent come in who have their heart set on a specific color. Because I want to make sure every client leaves with exactly what they want, I carry a variety of tones in every color. This is not quite a mini session, and not quite a full, but something magical in between. I don’t offer sessions like this often, in fact this is the first time. Not only have I not done outside styled sessions in years, I’ve never done one this messy before. These sessions are for the creative, the dreamers, the ones who cherish the chaos. The mamas (and papas!) who know one day these tiny hands will be able to paint inside the lines. And they won’t make such a mess

I did the promo pictures for this session with two of my daughters. Stella and Story. They were both so excited to paint and it left me with the sweetest memories of this moment with them. It took me back to why I first started photography. Capturing my own babies. Their childhood. These organic moments. These are the moments I want to give to you of your babies. And let’s be real, kids only have the attention span for a mini session.

This is one of our most asked questions. How do we pick? Often times our parents follow us on our social media pages and they are able to see all the new things we bring into the studio. We get new props, outfits, and fabrics all of the time! By doing this our parents will save the images they love and send them to us for reference. All of our props are meant specifically for newborn photography – so they’re safe for your brand new baby.

In addition we provide a questionnaire during your planning process. This has popular images, all of our props, and places for you to upload your inspiration images. I found out I was pregnant with my oldest daughter 18 years ago this month. In 2007, times were a bit different for photography in Phoenix. These beautiful, glam, high end editorial maternity sessions weren’t really a thing. And if you did find someone – it was wildly expensive. No one provided gowns, hair and makeup. No beautiful experiences to make a mother feel beautiful. And now 18 years later, I can’t believe I’m given the gift to make these pregnant mamas feel so good. Let’s dive into what you get with an editorial maternity shoot.

Now, fast forward 14 years and I get to meet so many amazing mamas for their maternity sessions in my Phoenix photography studio. I simply love the experience I get to provide you. What’s in that experience you wonder? Let’s chat about what you get, what goes into, and how your maternity session will go. Let’s start with one of the number one questions I get asked “Will you help me pose”. The answer is YES! During your maternity portrait session I will walk you through each pose down. Down to exact hand placement, fixing your hair, straightening your outfit (and dads) to ensure you are looking your best during your editorial maternity session. Then you will walk away from your editorial maternity shoot feeling like a million dollars!

Part of what goes into being the recipient of the “best maternity photographer” award for 6 years running in my area is the time I invest in you, your session, and your experience. From the time you inquire, you will have all of the information you need to choose the best package for your needs. I offer everything from maternity mini sessions once a month – to a mid grade session – to a completely custom editorial maternity shoot. A custom editorial maternity session is our most popular pick. This package includes custom styling, access to our full client closet, a professional hair and makeup artist that stays for the duration of your session to change your look half way through out. Clients love being able to have this variety with their maternity photoshoot!

Since not everyone needs a custom editorial maternity shoot, we offer smaller packages to fit everyone’s needs. Our 30 minute semi custom maternity photoshoot package includes access to a select collection of maternity gowns and backdrops. This is perfect for a mom who is a bit more low-key but still wants to feel glamorous and cherished. These are available at any time. Our maternity mini session is offered the first Saturday of every month – it is a 15 minute package for mom only and does not include access to our client closet. These are done on preselected backdrops and are for mom only.

Wondering the best time to schedule your maternity session? The majority of our moms book their maternity session early in their second trimester for roughly 28-33 weeks. If you’re expecting multiples or you want it sooner – that is always okay!
