Over the years, I’ve captured some of the sweetest newborn sessions for babies with Down syndrome in Phoenix. I believe it is important for parents to know that no matter your babies abilities, they are always welcome in my studio. 1. Be prepared for a longer session. Often times unposed pictures are harder than posed ones. Let’s face it, babies don’t love being naked, unwrapped, or moved every 3 seconds. Your baby needs to be in a deep sleep to capture these unwrapped, super sleepy moments.
2. Follow the prep guide. Before your session at my studio I will send you a prep guide. When you follow the prep guide (that I have perfected over 14 years) we have a higher chance of success with your session with Phoenix Lifestyle newborn photography.
3. Outfits MATTER! If you want your images to have a timeless look, less is more. A simple white onesie, a white shirt for dad, something simple for mom. The busier your outfits are, the more it will take away from the moment.
4. Just like your outfits, nail polish is key here too. I recommend going for a nude/neutral nail polish. No designs. We use parents hands a lot for the newborn session and if you have designs all over your nails – It can be distracting.
5. Relax and enjoy the moment. We work on your babies time, not ours! Sometimes it goes smoothly and sometimes – well, it’s less smooth. But at the end of the day it’s still your perfect baby.

Our studio does charge a $100.00 cleaning fee should you or a family member show up to the studio sick. We care about the health of our tiny clients. It’s important to keep it as healthy as possible.
4. Do they have formal training? While newborn photography (unfortunately) isn’t a regulated industry, your photographer should still be knowledgable about safety. It’s imperative to know the warning signs of a baby in distress. Are they too hot? Is this pose comfortable? Certain poses could seriously harm a baby if done wrong.
5. Do they have a prop collection or do you need to bring your own? The biggest benefit of our studio is our extensive prop collection. From buckets, baskets, beds, wraps, outfits, and more.
